WW II U.S. Model 82 (M82) Telescope Sight, Serial # 482, for the M1C sniper rifle. Rare, manufactured by Wollensack Optical Corporation. M82s are sometimes found on the M1D and 1903A4 sniper rifles also. Per article on Springfield Armory Museum site, Lyman made the majority of M82 scopes (approx. 14,000). A contract was given to Wollensack Optical in January 1945 to make M82 scopes. Wollensack made less than 2,000. This scope has Wollensack characteristics listed in the article: three digit serial number, caps with full side grooves and “A” prefix part number, correct Federal Stock Number. Scope has faded finish but no rust or pitting and clear optics. Sunshield intact and works, no rubber eyepiece.
