WW1 / WW2 German 3 Place Medal Bar For sale is an exceptionally fine three place German / Baden medal bar. All original pre 1945 production or your money back. This one has the Schaumburg-Lippe Cross for Loyal Service on Combatants Ribbon 1914 - 1918. This is a relatively scarce award for a medal bar as they were not issued in great numbers. Borrowed from the internet: " Gilt bronze Greek cross with out-turned ends to the arms, with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the crowned cipher of Prince Adolph centrally, the upper, left, right and lower arms inscribed ‘FÜR’, ‘TREUE’, ‘DIENSTE’, ‘1914’ respectively; the reverse plain; age-wear to gilding; on possibly replaced correct trifold ribbon. The Cross was instituted by Prince Adolph II on 18 November 1914 and was based on the Cross founded by his grandfather, Prince Adolph Georg for the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. It was the main military award of the small Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe during World War I. The population of Schaumburg-Lippe was less than 50,000 and the Cross is thus relatively rare. " It features the: Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 - bravery medal Principality Schaumburg - Lippe Cross for Loyal Service 1914 - 1918 - Loyalty / long service medal Cross of Honor Medal with Swords for Combatants 1914 - 1918 - Germany's WW1 participation medal...considered a third reich era medal as it was instituted in 1934 The bar itself is metal and has a metal tension bar and catch...all in working order. It is a straight up rectangle and the ribbons have rossettes along the bottom. All ribbons are correct and easily pass the UV light test. The ribbons on the front have very light wear and soiling...the medals share the same wear. They are wrapped over the front with their ends tied together with rayon threads and covered with a burgundy woolen backing cloth. The Iron Cross is excellent...lots of wear to the silver finish in the cross arms and the black painted iron center is smooth and complete. A three pieced cross with a magnetic center. Lots of dard patina giving the cross a fine menacing look to it. No splitting or rust is visible. The Schaumburg - Lippe medal is as described above..this one has light wear and surface scratches but otherwise in fine condition. The Cross of Honor has some fine wear and is in excellent condition...has a W.D.L. raised maker mark on the back. A great looking bar with a tough to find award. All guaranteed pre 1945 vintage and an excellent piece with a good number of awards on it. If you have any questions or need more photos please ask.
