WWII US V-44 Fighting Survival Knife Collins #18 Bowie Marine USMC Army

WWII US fighting knife. Also called a v-44. These knives were originally packed in survival kits aboard Army aircraft. Most were appropriated for use as fighting knives among soldiers. Made famous by USMC Carlson's Raiders who had 1000 of them produced especially for their unit. This carried and used knife is complete w/original scabbard. Length is just over 14" w/a 9 1/2" blade. It's got sharpening, a good clean edge, some dings to the spine of the blade, original bright finish is dull, but most of it is there. Collins markings are still clear on the ricasso. Brass guard is tight and fairly straight.. Black composition grips w/5brass pins has some chipping on the pommel and is otherwise good. Comes in original Collins #13 marked leather sheath.
